Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is on the Asian side of Istanbul, in the Pendik district, east of the city centre. It is the main base of Pegasus Airlines and AJet and handles many low-cost and charter flights. The airport is named after Sabiha Gökçen, Turkey's first female combat pilot.
