How to Go from Istanbul to Cappadocia

Cappadocia Tours & Activities

There are several transportation options to get from Istanbul to Cappadocia. Choose the one that best suits your travel style, time, and budget.

One of the most convenient options is to hire an excursion from Istanbul to Cappadocia. You have several options, from a 1-day trip to a 6-day tour.

Hiring an all-inclusive excursion is the best option when you don’t want to worry about anything.

Another option, which was the one we chose, was to travel by plane on our own and book the tours and visits in Cappadocia since there were four of us and it was very good value for money to book the private tours.

Bus

Regarding the balloon flight, I recommend booking it in advance, because if you do it there, they may change the price from one day to another, “due to increased demand” and if you do not pay, you will not be able to fly… (That’s happened to us)

The bus is an economical option to reach Cappadocia from Istanbul. Several bus companies offer services from Istanbul to Cappadocia, such as Kamilkoc, Metro Turizm, and Nevsehir Seyahat.

The bus trip takes approximately 12 hours and departs from Istanbul’s main bus station. Once in Nevsehir, you can take a local bus or cab to reach your accommodation in Cappadocia.

This option is perfect for people traveling on a budget but who have enough time to be able to take a bus that takes 12 hours to travel.

Plane

The fastest option to get to Cappadocia from Istanbul is to take a flight. There are several daily flights from Istanbul Airport to Nevsehir Airport, which is the closest airport to Cappadocia.

The flight time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Airlines offering flights to Nevsehir include Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and AnadoluJet.

For me it is the best and fastest option; if you book it in advance, you can find very good prices.

By Train

You can use high-speed trains to travel by train. The lines of this train are established between Istanbul, Ankara, and Konya, and if you have more time to travel, you can also have a short stop between the cities. You can also postpone your trip to the night to rest and sleep during the trip and visit the tourist places of this city during the day.

Note that train tickets must be purchased in advance to travel from Istanbul to Cappadocia. Because there are many people waiting to buy tickets and there may not be enough time to get a seat. You can also go to train stations to buy tickets or go online to railway websites and book tickets.
