Sheremetyevo International Airport

Sheremetyevo International Airport is an international airport situated in Khimik, Moscow. It is around 29 km northwest of the central Moscow and serves as the international airport for all major airlines. The airport has been named after the famous Russian poet Alexander Puskin. Originally the airport was built as the military airfield called Sheremetyevsky. It was named after the adjacent settlement and served as the main airport for the Soviet army back in 1953. In 1959, it was opened for international flights and served as the civilian airport.

Terminal

It has four operating passenger terminals and one terminal serves as private and business aviation. The airport terminal is divided into two groups named as north and south terminals.

Terminal A - It opened in 2012 and is on the east of Terminal B. It has been serving as an airport for  business and private aviation 

Terminal B - Terminal B also known as Sheremetyevo caters mainly to low-cost flights. It has 64 remote aircraft and some of them are for maintenance of the aircraft. It was built in 1964. It is famous for unique and unusual architecture building like a spaceship. Its architect was G Elkin Yu Kryukov. The terminal was demolished to build a new one to cater to increase the passenger capacity to 20 million passengers and only serves for the domestic traffic.

Terminal C - It was built in 2007 specifically for international flights with 30 check-ins and 36 passport control terminals.  

Terminal D - IT was opened in 2009 and is adjacent to Terminal F. It has a capacity of 12 million passengers per year. It has 22 jetways and 11 remote stands mostly catering to Aeroflot. It is a multi-story building that connect parking to terminal D through a pedestrian bridge. The parking has 4000 lots. It handles domestic flights and international flights to East Asia. 

Terminal E- It was established as an expansion project and has allowed for the foundation of a railway station. The terminal is connected with many pedestrian walkways. 

Terminal F - It was opened in 1980 and served as the main terminal in the Olympics. It is designed to serve 6 million passengers per year. It has a design inspired by the Hannover Langenhagen Airport.
